PROBATE ADMINISTRATION

A probate is a court-supervised proceeding for those individuals dying with a Last Will and Testament (as opposed to a Trust) and whose estate is greater than $150,000. An executor is appointed by the court to handle all of the legal affairs of the decedent and to distribute the estate to the beneficiaries named in the Will. The process usually takes from nine months to one year.
